A GENEALOGICAL TRAVELOGUE

Being the unexpurgated Record of a topographical and biographical Tour of the lives of selected Persons of Interest to my Client, which was commissioned with the express Intention of discovering more about their Ancestry, and which may be of Curiosity to the present Reader, if not Posterity.

Told with copious historical Detail, Maps and Illustrations for the Edification of the Reader, and minimal poetic Licence. Almost all spurious Detail that might otherwise create an entertaining and coherent Narrative of the Protagonists’ lives, as well as fictional Conversations that would bring the said Protagonists to life, have been avoided for the sake of historical Accuracy.

Speculation has been kept to a Minimum, and where present, is duly acknowledged. Some such Suppositions entertained by the Narrator of this Volume are retained in order to promote the Reader’s cogitation upon genealogical Dilemmas.

Footnotes with bibliographical Details are supplied in such cases as Documentation existing in the Public Domain verifies the activities of a Protagonist or illuminates the Events, Places and Customs described herein.

An Appendix supplies the Specifics of the Births, Deaths and Marriages of major and minor Protagonists and their Relatives, if known, but does not detail the actual Source Registers. This Information may be obtained from a number of Firms specialising in Family History upon payment of a Subscription. The aforementioned Appendix provides a convenient Reference for the Reader and for those who lack the Will to read the main Narrative.
